British GP2 racer, James Calado, has said this week that his management team are in talks with the Silverstone-based Sahara Force India team regarding a potential position within the team in 2014, writes James Beckett.
Calado says that he “can’t hide” the fact that he’s in discussion over a potential reserve driver role after driving for the team on all three days of the Young Driver Test at Silverstone.
Calado is one of Britain’s highest rated youngsters and forms part of the British Racing Drivers’ Club Superstars scheme.
He said: “Doing the Force India test was fantastic. It was amazing to get in a Formula One car. I was getting evaluated by the team and I’d like to say I did a fantastic job.
“I got to grips with it quicker than I expected actually and was able to give good feedback. I can’t hide that we’re having discussions with Force India, my manager, Nicolas Todt, is talking to them now, and I hope things will happen in the near future.”
