Cup delight for trio of local clubs

FOOTBALL: South Midlands Division Two sides Winslow United, Padbury United and Mursley United are celebrating after impressive cup victories this week.

Padbury enjoyed a 7-0 home win over Pitstone & Ivinghoe in the Division Two Cup second round last Saturday (see full report page 126), while Winslow United ran out 3-1 winners at Aston Clinton, thanks to a brace from Martin and an own goal. Tallyn netted for Aston.

Winslow are set to meet Padbury in the next round.

Mursley United lowered the colours of Division One side Buckingham Athletic at Stratford Road on Tuesday in the Buckingham Senior Charity Cup, winning 4-2 on penalties after it was 2-2 after extra time. Frankie Tarrant and Adam Bone put the hosts 2-0 up in extra time only for Ed Mills and James Wardell, with a penalty, to level the scores for Mursley.

The previous Saturday Athletic lost 2-0 at Wodson Park in South Midlands Division One, Amstead and Rose the scorers for Park. Athletic host fourth-placed AFC Dunstable this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Winslow return to league action this Saturday with a home game against Caddington, kick-off 2pm.

Padbury travel to Tring Corinthians in the Anagram Records Feeder Leagues Trophy tomorrow, Saturday, kick-off 1.30pm.

Mursley, now in fourth place in the league after a fine win last Saturday over sThe 61 FC (see report page 126), visit Pitstone & Ivinghoe, 1.30pm kick-off.
