Anthony Davidson, the current leader of the FIA World Endurance Championship, thrilled crowds at the 22nd running of the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend when he demonstrated a Toyota TS040-Hybrid.
The Brackley resident also drove a Grand Prix car for the Mercedes AMG Petronas team.
The Festival of Speed was again a sell-out event, with thousands of enthusiasts descending on the Goodwood estate, and the home of Lord March, to visit the four-day motoring spectacular.
Davidson, third in the 2014 Le Mans 24-Hour Race three weeks ago, said: “Goodwood is an incredible event. The atmosphere is amazing and spectators can get very close to the action and to see the cars.”
Also in action at the Festival of Speed was Lewis Hamilton. The British Grand Prix driver, who will be competing in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend, said: “This is a great way to start the build-up to Silverstone and the British Grand Prix.
“It’s always really good to drive a car at Goodwood and meet the fans and many of them will also be at Silverstone this week. Goodwood one week and the British Grand Prix the next - am not sure it gets better than this!”
James Wood and Queenie Louwman were also in action on the Goodwood Hill. Louwman was seen driving the famous Le Mans-winning Jaguar D Type of 1956. The Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar was making a rare trip to the Britain from its home in the Netherlands at the Louwman Museum.
