Following a rain-hit first weekend, Brackley 1st XI got their league campaign off and running with a home four-wicket win over Banbury.
After winning the toss, Brackley elected to bowl first and Olly Goddard made a perfect start with an early wicket.
The Brackley bowlers continued to bowl well throughout the innings as they restricted the Banbury batsmen to few scoring opportunities. Only Chris Phillips (20) offered any resistance on the way to 88 all out.
Harry Brooker took one wicket while there was two each for Keith Cartwright and Goddard but the star performer was Matt Lowe, who took 5-34.
Brackley stuttered in reply – reaching 30-4 – but a captain’s innings from Michael Cartwright (27 not out) guided his side over the line.
Elsewhere, Brackley IIs also won after Ben Britto (5-51) and Ian Harris (5-26) bowled Leighton Buzzard out for 85.
Brackley struggled in reply but just managed to reach their target with two balls to spare and two wickets remaining.
