Oxfordshire Senior Cup defending champions, Ardley United, eased through to the quarter-finals of this year’s competition with a 4-0 win over Kidlington.

Table-toppers Kidlington went into the game as favourites given their current league position, but the hosts rarely looked in danger of being knocked out as they took control of the game early on with Ricky Johnson heading them into a 10th minute lead.

Ardley dominated for long spells with efforts from Johnson, Luke Ingram and Gavin Kidd all repelled before Johnson headed in his and United’s second.

Jon Gardner’s cross then eluded everyone, including the goalkeeper, to find the far corner and put Ardley three ahead at half-time.

Kidlington improved after the break and had chances to reduce the deficit, but Callum Convey’s 70th minute strike booked Ardley’s place in the quarter-finals.

In a Hellenic Premier Division clash on Saturday, Ardley came from 2-0 down to beat Oxford City Nomads 3-2 thanks to a dramatic 90th minute winner from Connor Ingram.

United travel to Reading Town this Saturday.
