Following a disappointing run of league results, Buckingham Athletic returned to winning ways in the Buckingham Charity Cup on Tuesday evening.

The quarter-final tie saw Brackley Town send their development team, who have been flying high in the Hellenic Division One East this season.

The hosts, who were runners-up to Banbury last year, took an early lead when Dan Booden scored after 11 minutes. Despite the excellent football played by Brackley, the visitors were unable to break the home down as Athletic held on to book their place in the semi-finals.

This Saturday, Athletic are again in cup action as they host Oakley United in the County Cup at 2.30pm at Stratford Fields.

Earlier in the month, Buckingham Athletic slipped to 14th in South Midlands League Division One following back-to-back home defeats, the first a 3-0 loss to Wodson Park followed by a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Langford last Saturday.

Athletic’s next league encounter comes next Tuesday when they entertain Baldock Town.
