Steeple Claydon resident and MK Dons first-team player George Baldock will be aiming to continue his fine form against league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Since signing his first professional contract with the Dons and following in the footsteps of older brother Sam in 2009, George has gained experience elsewhere on loan before becoming the club’s first choice right-back.

The 21-year-old started his football career in his home village of Steeple Claydon, where he still lives, prior to joining his brother in the MK Dons Academy, while still balancing his studies at the Royal Latin School.

As well as impressing defensively, Baldock has chipped in with vital goals in the past few weeks, setting the Dons on their way to a 2-1 success at Oldham Athletic before scoring a sensational last-minute winner against Swindon Town to come out on top by the same scoreline.

George said: “As a kid, you dream to score 90th-minute winners and it was such an important goal too. I couldn’t describe my emotions after – it meant so much to me.”

He is now fully focused on trying to help the Dons defeat former Premier League side Wolves at stadiummk.

He said: “Games like this are huge for the club, the players and the fans. It would be great if as many people as possible could come out and support us, especially as Wolves are bringing a big following.

“The Dons have put together some great offers for the game to entice people to come and watch a game of local, affordable football, so there’s no excuse! Plus, it’s brilliant when the fans are chanting your name, there’s no feeling like it.”

MK Dons will be running a subsidised coach service from Winslow and Buckingham for the highly-anticipated fixture at a cost of £2 return.
