Ryan Brooks continued his scintillating form this season with a hat-trick against Newbury at the weekend as Ardley United maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the Hellenic Premier Division with a 5-1 victory.
Brooks – who now has 32 for the season – needed just 16 minutes to put his side in front, turning home Ollie Stanbridge’s delightful pass, before Troy Bryan gave Ardley a 2-1 half-time lead.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with Ardley carving out more chances than the visitors as Ben Thomas’ powerful header added a third to seal victory.
There was still time left for Brooks to complete his hat-trick, though, as he struck twice in the final 15 minutes to round off another fine individual display.
The win keeps Ardley seven points clear and stretches their unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions, with their last defeat coming on November 16. Kevin Brock’s side face a trip to 13th-placed Bracknell Town this weekend.
