Buckingham Athletic came from behind to defeat Chesham United Reserves 4-1 in SSML Division One on Tuesday evening.
Phil Martin was the star of the evening as his second half hat-trick took him to 10 goals for the season.
The visitors produced the better football in the first half, however it was Athletic who had the best chance to take a lead into the break but Martin’s effort was cleared off the line as a scrappy and uneventful first half ended goalless.
After the interval, some sloppy Athletic defending at a corner allowed a visiting player a free header to give Chesham the lead.
The goal forced Athletic manager Damien Wiffin into bringing on Nathan Perna and a change of formation allowed the home side to take control and level through Martin.
Perna then had an immediate impact as he broke through the defence to slot past the advancing goalkeeper before a rasping drive from Martin made it 3-1.
Athletic continued their dominance and Perna and Martin linked up again with the latter tapping in to complete a hat-trick.
Buckingham are up to 11th in Division One and are in cup action on Saturday with a trip to Cockfosters in the FA Vase.
