BUCKINGHAM Town have announced that former player Steve Orchard has taken over as manager of the club.

Orchard played for Town in the UCL Premier Division before going onto manage Silverstone, Old Bradwell United and Wellingborough Whitworth.

The former player is a Level Two coach and is set to bring his own management team with him, including Stuart Hadwick and Andy Wharton.

Orchard takes over from Kit Bamber, who left the club last Thursday.

In a statement, the club said: “We on the committee have a vision for this club and it was very important this time to find someone who both understood and shared in that vision, to be truly able to get behind the future of this club requires an understanding of the history.”
