AS part of their continued re-building project on and off the pitch, Buckingham Town Football Club are on the search for new players from the local area.

Having hit rock bottom last summer after their eviction from Ford Meadow, the club are slowly rebuilding following the introduction of the Development Squad last season playing in North Bucks & District League.

Recently appointed manager Steve Orchard has already stated his desire to see youngsters from the surrounding area play for the club.

He said: “I would like to make better connections with the local area and improve the youth set-up and work with schools, such as U18s and U19s.

“The club needs to forge links with the people and that’s something I’d like to do.

“There are some very good players and kids from the area but we need more.”

Director of Football Daniel Kingston added: “I’m not sure how many Buckingham residents have represented the Robins during our 130 year history but in recent times we haven’t seen many grace the first team and that is a shame as I know there are some good local players around.

“Over the years we seemed to unwittingly move away from the local community somehow, something which we want to change.

“There is also an opportunity for a forward thinking football coach/manager to take control of our Development Squad, a role which we see as pivotal for the future of the club.

“If you are interested in developing players and playing good quality football get in touch.

“The final vacancy we have is for a Club Physio.

“If you feel you have the relevant experience/qualifications and are willing to give up some of your time please contact us.”

If you are interested in playing for one of Buckingham’s teams, managing the Development Squad or becoming the physio, you can contact the club via email on or by calling First Team Manager Steve Orchard on 07854 714145.

Pre-season training starts on Tuesday, June 26.
