Wells takes heart after Ducks loss

Jack Wells felt his Aylesbury United side were unlucky to lose their SPL Division One Central clash at home to Hadley last weekend.

The Ducks were a goal down inside a minute and 2-0 down at half-time in Saturday’s game, and despite an own goal reducing the arrears, the visitors immediately made it 3-1 and David Pearce’s late deflected effort was too little.

But Wells was keen to still take the positives when speaking to the club’s media channels after the game.

He said: “I thought at times today, in possession of the ball it was the best we’ve been.

"We conceded a goal inside 30 or 40 seconds which was another frustrating one to take given it was another individual error, but then we had a spell where we moved the ball really well until another mistake saw us 2-0 down.

"You can be as good in possession as you want but the reality is we’ve got nothing to show for it.”

Aylesbury face arguably their toughest test so far on Saturday when league leaders Bedford Town are the visitors. The Ducks will then host Barton Rovers next Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, striker Ken Feyi as returned to the Ducks to boost their forward line.

The 26-year-old returns to the squad having previously made 25 appearances, scoring 14 goals, for the team in the 2019-20 season.

Feyi said: “I feel like I have some unfinished business from when I was last here, so after speaking with Wellsy and hearing his plans it was something I knew I wanted to be part of straight away and to help push the club forward.”
