Wilkin looking to keep up the chase for that final place
Brackley Town can still make the Vanarama National League North play-offs but face a stiff task on Saturday.
Second-placed Salford City are the visitors at St James Park where Kevin Wilkin’s side will be looking to close the gap.
Saints are just three points outside the play-offs and, after the Salford game, they travel to Darlington 1883, who are also chasing that final spot.
Wilkin said: “We’ve got two massive games coming up, Salford on Saturday and then Darlington. But we’ve been competitive in every game we’ve played this season and we can go into Saturday’s game on the back of a good performance.
“We need to stay injury-free because finding players at this stage of the season who can help us progress is a bit of a challenge.”
Saints go into Saturday’s game on the back of Tuesday’s 6-0 success at AFC Telford United, making it ten points from their last 12 outings. They bounced back with a bang from dropping a couple of points at Curzon Ashton on Saturday.
Looking back on Tuesday’s game, Wilkin added: “I told the players afterwards that there won’t be many teams come here and hit six goals.
“Jordan Hempenstall and David Moyo have worked really hard for us and that was the first time they’ve played together. A good combination between our two strikers is something that has been missing at times this season.”
