Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg finished Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix in ninth and 10th respectively for Silverstone-based Force India.

It was the team’s lowest point-scoring finishes of the season as both drivers found their VJM07-Mercedes cars lacking in pace. Perez said: “I had hoped that we might be in a slightly better position to challenge for higher points, but it was not the case.”

Hulkenberg added: “I had hoped for a top five finish before the weekend started but it was not possible. A point is better than nothing although I have dropped to sixth in the championship race. I don’t really want to drop any further down the order, so I will be trying very hard at the next race.”

The race was won by Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who now takes the lead at the top of the standings, with team-mate Nico Rosberg second.
