Gawcott’s Dan Fox lines-up for this weekend’s Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone with the hopes of a strong performance in the season-ending Formula Ford 1600 spectacular, writes James Beckett.
Fox will compete alongside 120 of the world’s best Formula Ford 1600 racers in a PRS 81F, a car entered under the Team Fox Racing with Sheshon Racing banner.
The local racer drove the PRS in the 2012 Walter Hayes Trophy, finishing well in the Pre 82 Bernard Baxter Trophy race, and has since driven the car in Champion of Brands races at the Motorsport Vision Racing-owned Brands Hatch track.
This weekend, Fox will carry the number 77 on the car, and will contest the fifth of six heats for FF1600 competitors on Saturday. Further progression races take place on Sunday as racers make their way towards the Grand Final and the presentation of the Walter Hayes Trophy.
Fox said: “The Walter Hayes Trophy is an amazing event and I am looking forward to racing at my home track. I hope it will be a great weekend.”
