Pre-season testing for the GP2 Series is under way at the Yas Marina track in Abu Dhabi.

This week all 26 cars that will contest the 2014 GP2 Series have been in action for three days of testing at the track that will host the final round of the season in November.

Fastest car present was the DAMS team entry driven by Jolyon Palmer, son of the Brands Hatch and MotorSport Vision (MSV) boss, Jonathan Palmer. Setting the fastest time on the second day of the test, the former GP2 Series race winner clocked a time marginally faster than his DAMS team-mate, Stephane Richelmi.

The new Sahara Force India branded Hilmer Motorsport cars of Facu Regalia and Daniel Abt both showed good pace, although Regalia lost time during day two after his car was in a collision with the Venezuela GP Lazarus Dallara-Renault car of 2008 Walter Hayes Trophy winner, Conor Daly.

The American was sent rolling into the trackside safety barriers in the shunt that ended his participation in the test.

Regalia said: “For the first test in a GP2 car things have gone OK. It was a shame to be involved in the crash with Conor Daly.

“That lost me time during the second day of the test, but I feel I am in good shape and that the team are making good progress before the start of the season next month.”
