Bicester Athletic Club’s Sportshall teams started this season’s campaign with an excellent and exciting first match of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League season at the Bicester Sports Centre.

The U11 girls were in top form to finish the match just two points off a maximum score. Rushani Arumugham and Millie Couzens both claimed first place finishes, as did Amelia Cox, Erin McDonnell, Katie Ford and Georgie Cordy in the speed bounce competition. Cordy and Abigal D’Silva took second place in the chest ball push and Emilia Sims helped the 4x1 relay team to first as Bicester finished the match in the number one position.

The obstacle relay team of Sean Lock, Cameron Stock, Joseph Conway and Cameron Scarlett catapulted the U11 boys team to a terrific start with victory before Josiah Edwards-Giraud, Thomas Kavanagh, Ellis Griffths-Brown and Lucas Williams all took first place finishes to match the girls’ effort and finish top.

The U13 boys went even better by dropping just a single point in their match. Harvey Attril and Tom Couzens kicked off with wins, while Fergus Jones and Caelan Coney jumped to first in the vertical jump before Jones teamed up with JJ Welham to take first in the four laps races. Also helping the team to success was William Sims in the shot put.

The U13 girls team of Lauren Garside, Ellie Laurie, Orlaith Lyford, Isabelle Kinsella-Miles, Alice Daniel and Holly Griffiths-Brown finished in second, matched by the efforts of the U15 teams.

Rhiannon Penfold and Emma Ford claimed wins for the girls with Olivia Stock and Yolanda Martin also impressing, while for the boys, Connor Wilce, Zak Wilce, Tom Gould, Lewys Jones and Alex Jack took the team to second.
