Bicester Athletics Club’s youngsters dominated at the Andy Reading 10k earlier this month.
The children’s races were split into two events, with the U11s competing over a 1k course and the older runners running over a longer course of 3k.
The only even that eluded Bicester was the 1k girls race, which was won by Lucy Rose (Wycombe) as she pushed Bicester’s Millie Couzens into second. In the boy’s event, Tom Kavanagh was in fine form to bag victory with Freddie Taylor third. In the primary school team competition, Bure Farm added another team win to their roll of success this winter.
It was a Bicester family affair over the 3k distances as the Gould duo, Tom and Amy, swept the board in both the boys and girls event.
Amy, who won despite running against several older athletes, headed a Bicester one-two with Molly Action finishing second, while Tom Couzens replicated the efforts of his sister by also finishing second in his first ever 3k race.
Other award winners in the 10k were as follows: Marcus Maxwell (35.45 minutes), Dave Thame (35.59), Peter Brackett (40.31), Phil Gilkes (40.57), Rachael Phelps (40.07), Victoria Broadbent (40.12), Lucy Gettins (45.55), Jo Gundle (47.02) and Jane Watkins (47.01).
