Buckingham LHC’s indoor squad secured their second piece of silverware in as many weeks by claiming the England Hockey Maxinutrition Hockey 5’s Division Two title and gaining promotion to National Division One – the highest level the club has ever played at indoors.
The squad achieved promotion in some style, winning all five of their matches over the weekend, scoring 30 goals and conceding just eight.
In the fast flowing, high-scoring, five-a-side version of the outdoor game, Buckingham beat Stourport 6-2, St Albans 8-2, Gloucester 7-3, Ipswich 4-0 and Chelmsford 5-1. Jess Bloom top scored with an impressive 14 goals, while Katrinca Nicholson bagged six and Alex Naughalty four with other goals coming from Tracy Jones, Beth Stainsby, Fiona Farley and Ella Cusack.
It was a superb way to end the first half of the season and places Buckingham in the top 18 indoor teams in the country. Division One will take place over the first two weekends in January.
