Buckingham are back top of the Investec Conference West table after a 3-1 win over Barnes at the weekend.

Despite a disjointed start, Buckingham took the lead on just eight minutes courtesy of a Zoe Shipperley strike from their first penalty corner.

Although the home side dominated both possession and territory, a number of basic errors allowed Barnes back into the game as the visitors went into half time all square.

Buckingham upped their intensity in the second half, though, and deservedly retook the lead through Shipperley, who then completed her hat-trick and a victory that takes Buckingham a point clear at the top.

On Sunday, a number of the 1st XI travelled to Bristol for the Sitec Invitational indoor tournament as preparation for the start of the indoor season.

On what was a positive day, the side produced some impressive performances to win the tournament. In the process, they beat Firebrands 4-3 in a nail- biter - Beth Stainsby scoring the decisive goal from a penalty corner with just seconds remaining. Buckingham then beat Weymouth 6-0, drew with Premier Division East Grinstead 4-4, before defeating Trojans 1-0 to clinch the title.
