Buckingham Ladies first team closed the gap on leaders Slough to one point at the top of the Conference West table after beating Gloucester 3-0.

The visitors showed intent from the off and Player of the Match Jo Ellis weaved her way down the baseline before finding an unmarked Alex Naughalty, who opened the scoring with a neat finish.

Having held onto the slender lead until half time, Buckingham’s slick passing saw them dominate both territory and possession and they doubled their lead after the break when Zoe Shipperly fired in following some fantastic flowing hockey.

Jo Ellis then secured the points from a penalty corner to help Buckingham remain second, a point behind leaders Slough, ahead of a trip to Bristol Firebrands this weekend.

There was more good news for the club this with U15 second team player, Kirsty Freshwater, attending the England U16 training camp at Lilleshall over the weekend, while first team captain Zoe Shipperley was called up to England/GB funded athletes training group.
