Buckingham IIs took a giant stride towards the Trysports Premier One title with a hard-earned 1-0 win in a top-of-the-table clash with Reading.
The result maintains Buckingham’s 100 per cent record and takes them five points clear at the top.
Both teams showed their ability from the start with much of the first half contested in midfield as the two sides cancelled each other out to leave the game goalless at half-time.
Buckingham began to gradually seize control in the second half as they enjoyed the majority of possession and Reading’s stubborn resistance was finally broken on 59 minutes when Fi Farley netted from a short corner.
Reading rallied with wave after wave of attack, only strong defending from Isy Honour, Charlie Coumbe and Player of the match Sophie Tuckett kept Reading at bay until full-time.
Buckingham are away to Wokingham this weekend.
