Buckingham IIs remain top of Trysports Premier Two after a hard-fought 2-0 win over third-placed Oxford Ladies.
Played in extremely difficult conditions, Oxford won the toss and put the home side under pressure thanks to some wind-assisted attacks, but the match remained goalless at half-time with both sides struggling to break down their opponents.
However, with the wind behind them after the break, Buckingham upped their game immediately and to the relief of the team and their supporters, they took the lead through Andrea Freshwater, who calmly slotted the ball past the Oxford goalkeeper following a free-flowing move.
Buckingham Ford Player of the Match, George Holme, worked well down the left and it was her good play that led to the second goal which was thumped home by Fi Farley.
Screen players Vicky Ross and Erin Coulter worked tirelessly in the second half to keep Oxford at bay and see out the three points that keep Buckingham clear at the top ahead of a home game against Wycombe this weekend at Stowe.
