Buckingham IIs will go into Christmas top of the Trysports Premier Two table after thrashing Wallingford 8-0.
All eight goals came in an impressive first half performance as Buckingham swept aside the visitors in emphatic fashion after taking a lead in just 39 seconds through Andrea Freshwater’s decisive finish.
Buckingham’s intensity penned Wallingford back and Freshwater was ruthless as she completed her hat-trick inside four minutes, while Man of the Match Jaz Needham scored a fourth with a powerful strike.
Wallingford were left deflated and their misery was compounded when a goalkeeping error allowed Kirsty Freshwater to score a fifth before Needham scored twice in quick succession and A Freshwater and Laura Grossick also added one each to put the hosts eight ahead at half time.
The second half was largely uneventful as Buckingham saw out victory without adding any more goals.
Meanwhile, Buckingham U16s team travelled to Oxford on Sunday to play their last game of 2013, which they won 7-0 against Oxford Hawks in the Oxfordshire League.
Buckingham’s dominance was evident from kick-off and they remained on top throughout the game. Joint Players of the Match, Erin Coulter and Kirsty Freshwater, were outstanding as they tormented Oxford with continuous running and tackling, while Francesca Knight made some fine saves to keep a clean sheet.
Jess Lee, Georgie Holme, Bella Festa and Freshwater all scored before half time to put Buckingham 4-0 ahead at the break, and that was followed by another fine performance in the second half as Freshwater completed her hat-trick and Georgie Davis netted one to secure victory.
