BUCKINGHAM Rugby Union Football Club has secured a prestigious award by being given the Rugby Football Union’s Club Accreditation.

The RFU Club Accreditation recognises the effort and achievement of volunteers in reaching the standard required in the development of rugby across the whole club, and to plan for the long term sustainability of the club and rugby union.

Buckingham are one of only three clubs in the county to have achieved this award.

Clubs are assessed by the RFU and must demonstrate evidence of good practice in areas such as club management, player development and recruitment, child protection, sports equity, coaching, refereeing and volunteering.

RFU Rugby Development Officer Tim Holmes said: “Buckingham RFC not only provides a fantastic experience to mens, ladies and junior teams made up of players from the local community, they also have superb facilities which they have developed over the past few years and are constantly looking to grow the club in all areas.”

Chairman Julian Cook added: “Accreditation has confirmed the club’s commitment to the development of rugby as a major sport and its standing in the community as a respected club, where enjoyment comes first and everyone is welcome to take part in whatever way they are able.”
