Clean sweep for Towcester teams

All three Towcester Hockey teams recorded victories this week with not a single goal conceded between them.

The first team returned to winning ways with a battling 1-0 win away at Wellingborough in Midlands Region Hockey League Division One. Lisa Prince scored the only goal of the game while goalkeeper Sue Willers was named Player of the Match.

The IIs enjoyed a more convincing victory as they thrashed rivals and top-of-the-table Daventry 5-0.

Lisa Groves opened the scoring, closely followed by Emily Kelly, before a smooth short corner routine saw Laura Abbott slot away a third goal of the half.

Towcester were all over Daventry and continued their dominance in the second half with further goals from Harriet Sheppard and Groves completing a win that takes Tows level with Daventry at the top. Jenny Williams was picked as Player of the Match.

Finally, the IIIs went one better in beating Kettering 6-0. Laura Simpson and Marissa Marais scored twice, while Nicky Charsley and Natasha Shahin also found the net.
