Club hoping rugby event beats freeze

RUGBY: Weather permitting, Buckingham Rugby Club will be holding their annual Christmas Charity Rugby Tournament on Monday, December 27 at the Maids Moreton ground.

There will be seven teams running off the seasonal excesses with the first games kicking off at 1pm sharp.

Taking to the field will be the Pot Belly Farmers, The Harper Woods XV, the Old Latins, Buckingham XV, and the Bulldogs.

The 2010 tournament will be the 10th in the event’s history which has raised in excess of £15,000 for various charities. Taking advantage of the additional pitch and changing room facilities there are two new entries for the tournament, a Buckingham Colts XV who were are all ex-Colts and team mates of Kirk Nokes and a side from neighbouring Brackley RFC.

As expected there will be beer, wine, and a barbecue , and the evening’s post-match celebrations will include a disco.

There will be a minimum donation of £5 per person on the gate although children are welcome free.

A decision as to whether the pitches will be playable will be made at 5pm on Boxing Day and posted on the club website Club members should note that the evening celebrations may still go ahead despite the lack of rugby.
