Damp weather fails to stop high scoring

Nigel Watmough won a very wet midweek stableford at Buckingham Golf Club after shooting 39 points.

Paul Bentley came second – one shot further back – while Michael Hutton was third.

The weekend saw rounds 20 and 21 of the Dr Stableford Cup.

Scores on Saturday were exceptionally high with Richard Sanders standing out after shooting 44 points to take first.

Steve Leyland was second with 43, one ahead of Dave Barnes.

Sunday’s scores weren’t far behind as Mick Faulkner took top spot with 43 points.

Barry Stock was second with 41, beating Terry McStaw by one.

This week, the Ladies played for the RNLI Shield with all proceeds going to the charity.

Margot Sharp was the clear winner with her score of 69, which was five shots ahead of second place, taken by Sandra Siggers as she beat Jackie Boath on countback.
