David wins decathlon gold

DAVID Kuester of Bicester AC and Oxford City AC Veterans has won gold for the fourth time in four years at the MMTG British Decathlon Throws Championships.

Held at the Moorways stadium in Derby, David racked up a total of 4,848 points in the 65+ age group despite a persistent right knee injury.

His individual results were: Hammer 31.45m, shot put 8.76m, discus 28.09m, javelin 32.73, heavy hammer 15.00m, sling ball 38.89, 7.5kg brick 7.17m, 250g club 44.43 (personal best), 4kg mini-shot 15.92m, one-handed hammer 19.35m.

David will face much stiffer competition in his next event, which is the British Masters Weight Throws Pentathlon at the Copthall stadium in London on Sunday, July 1, where he hopes to get third.
