A DOMINANT display from Buckingham Ladies saw them notch back-to-back wins with a 2-0 victory against ISCA University to go second in the Investec Conference West Hockey League.

Having never beaten ISCA before, Buckingham were determined to rectify the record as they prepared to host the Exeter side.

The home side started positively and were rewarded for their early pressure with a goal inside three minutes.

Frankie Scott was the creator as her pinpoint pass found Buckingham’s stand out performer Lorraine Campbell inside the attacking circle and she did brilliantly to peel around the goalkeeper before slotting the ball coolly into an open goal.

A few slack moments and dips in form allowed ISCA to open up the Buckingham defence on the break but they failed to capitalise while the hosts continued to look dangerous.

Despite Buckingham’s superiority, they only led by a solitary goal at half time.

But their second half performance proved to be even more dominant as they controlled possession and made ISCA work hard to try and break up the play.

A second Buckingham goal wasn’t far off and they deservedly doubled their lead following a fluid passing move.

It started from the back and covered the full length of the pitch involving Jo Ellis, Katrina Nicolson, Leanne Grimsby and Sam Sandham before Jess Bloom scrambled the ball home from close range.

With a two-goal cushion, Buckingham continued to dominate for the remainder of the match as they eased to victory by controlling possession.

Buckingham are next in action tomorrow when they host Staines at Stowe for their next league tie with kick-off scheduled for midday.

The fixture also coincides with Buckingham’s Club Day with the club open to all support at Stowe, further details can be found at
