Buckingham Hockey ladies earned a 2-1 victory against Premiership outfit Surbiton in the final warm-up game.
With new faces on both sides, the game started at a high intensity with Buckingham using their passing game to full advantage to take the lead.
An interception from newly signed former GB international Jo Ellis played in Jess Bloom to slot home Buckingham’s first of the game.
Surbiton hit back with numerous breaks but Buckingham’s work rate in defence kept them out.
The London side upped their play in the second half and deservedly levelled having created several chances.
But it was Buckingham who came out on top when – following some fantastic midfield interlink play – Fiona Farley touched in to secure a 2-1 win.
With friendlies now over, Buckingham are all set to begin their season after strengthening the squad in the summer by bringing in three new players.
They include Zoe Shipperley, ex-junior Scottish international Ellie Cockburn and Beijing Olympian Jo Ellis.
