Lewis Hamilton knows he needs a big performance this weekend to keep his hopes of capturing a third successive world F1 title alive.

Hamilton arrives at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, 33 points adrift of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in the world championship race with just four rounds left.

With 25 points available for a win, Hamilton still has plenty of work to do as the battle for the world title enters its closing laps.

The British racer, winner of the title in 2014 and 2015, is looking to complete the hat-trick this year, which would crown him as a four-time world champion, but he knows he has to perform well in the USA and the remaining races to have any chance of overhauling Rosberg.

Speaking this week, Hamilton said: “I know I have a big fight, and I am going to come out fighting. I want to win and I will be pushing.

“I am looking forward to the weekend and racing in the United States.”

Rosberg, who is on course for his maiden title, added: “Lewis is traditionally strong here at the Circuit of the Americas, but I am looking at doing a solid job and driving to the best of my ability.

“I know the season is far from over, and everything is possible. I will be looking to win, that’s for sure, but I am taking one race at a time.”
