Bicester Boxing Club was invited to compete at the Primal Fight Night this past weekend at the impressive Cheltenham Town Hall.
Bicester travelled to the venue with plenty of support with super-middleweights, Scott James and Ciaran Evans-Fry, performing under the Bicester Boxing Club banner.
Evans-Fry was matched against the taller and heavier Tommy Cooke, however as soon as the contest began it was clear at the Bicester man had the superior skill-set as he landed his punches cleanly throughout the first round.
Evans-Fry continued his dominance into round two and then let fly with a shuddering right hook that put Cooke on the canvas.
It was immediately clear Cooke was in big trouble but he bravely got back to his feet in time to beat the referee’s count, only for his corner to pull him out of the fight to leave Evans-Fry celebrating a knock-out victory.
Bicester head coach Daza Usher said: “It’s good to get Ciaran a victory as he has been working hard in the gym. He’ll now take a few days off before getting back in the gym to prepare for his next match”.
Evans-Fry said: “It feels good to be back competing again. My last contest was a while back so it’s nice to get back to winning ways. The coaching team at Bicester Boxing Club has really helped me and I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym.”
Also picking up a well deserved victory for the Bicester Boxing Club was Scott James, who took a clear points decision on the judge’s scorecards having dominated his fight against the muscular Ronnie Smith of Cheltenham Boxing Club.
Usher added: “I’m really pleased with how Scott performed. He has really improved over the last few months.”
