Former Royal Latin School pupil, Alyssa Lim, said she was disappointed after prematurely crashing out of the English National Badminton Championships in Milton Keynes.
Lim, who was seeded third for the mixed doubles and fourth for the women’s event, failed to progress past the quarter-finals at the stadium:mk having come up against former champions Peter Mills, Suzanne Rayappan and Jenny Wallwork.
Lim said afterwards: “It’s just disappointing, seeding three and four in both.
“I don’t think there was any one thing wrong, we just didn’t play to our full potential. We had tough draws but we lost to the better pair on the day.
“I obviously played Jenny twice, Sue and Pete who are both former champions so we know it was going to be a hard one.
“They’re not full-time at Milton Keynes but we knew it was going to be far from a walk in the park. We had to play our best and unfortunately I didn’t.
“It’s definitely something to learn from, the saying goes you learn more from your losses than your wins so we’ll have to look at what we did well.
“We need to bounce back quickly, there’s not as much training time as we’d maybe like but sometimes it’s good getting straight back into tournaments and starting fresh.”
Lim has the chance to put her disappointment behind her as soon as this week with her England debut at the European Team Championships in Basel, Switzerland.
She added: “I’ve got my first cap this week in the European Teams and that’ll be a good achievement if I get to play, it’s something I’m really looking forward to.”
