THE Brackley-based Running Skirts team have won the overall Candleford Canter 10k Race trophy.
In a ladies only race around the picturesque countryside of Fringford, Oxford girl Mary Grace Spalton retained her title by taking first place in a fast time of 41.01 minutes.
Next back was Karen Heslop, who was coming back from a break in competing, in a time of 44.02 with Running Skirts team mate Heidi Lewis recording 46.23 and Annie Porter 48.10.
Both Lewis and Heslop were representing the Brackley and District Running Club as was Julie Rice who finished in 1.00.12.
Those times were enough to see Running Skirts take the overall team trophy, knocking long-standing favourites off the top spot.
Meanwhile, Sunday saw the last event in the race championship calendar for the Brackley and District Running Club – the Pumpkin 10k.
Run around the Stanwick lakes in Northampton, it was only the ladies from the club that competed to get the last few points that count.
Sue Torrance crossed the line in 47.21 which was enough to secure her the Top Lady for 2012 while Karen Dykes came in second in 52.17 to place her in the top three in the club championships.
The final points are yet to be tallied up and the awards will be presented in December.
