BUCKINGHAM Golf Club’s scratch team are through to the quarter-finals of the Oxon Foursomes Scratch Knock-out after a resounding 3-0 win over Carswell Golf Club.
The team were represented by Jeff Wyatt, Sam Newbould, Mark Rimell, Michael Schofield, Ben Baxter and Ben Oliver as they now look forward to a quarter-final tie against Chiltern Forest.
Elsewhere at the club, Jamie Eborall proved that hard work on the practise ground pays off after he shot an excellent 41 points to win the midweek stableford.
William Wemyss was a shot back in second while Luis Souza took third place on countback after finishing alongside four other members on 39 points.
Buckingham also hosted their traditional Men’s Invitation Day despite the poor weather, which made for tricky conditions.
With 60 players taking part, John Middleton and his guest, former Buckingham captain Roger Mawle, pipped Billy McNicholl and John Baker on countback after both groups shot 43 points.
In third place were Jonathan Stone and G Crowther on 42 points.
The final competition of the week saw the 14th round of the Dr Stableford Cup, which was won by Matt McStraw with an exceptional score of 45 points.
Gus Davidson kept up his recent good form to take second with 41 while Des Lovett was third on 38 points.
