Silverstone racer Jordan Albert scored victory in the third BRDC F4 race of the 2015 season at Oulton Park on Easter Monday.

Driving for the Sean Walkinshaw Racing team, Albert overcame the disappointment of finishing 18th in the opening race to end his weekend on a high.

Giving up hopes of progression through the pack in race two, Albert instead opted to attempt to set the fastest lap that would grant him pole position for the third and final race of the weekend.

It was a tactic that paid off as Albert was able to dominate the final race to claim his first ever victory by a margin of nearly eight seconds.

The 18-year-old said afterwards: “The opening day of the meeting didn’t go to plan. We had an issue that wasn’t the fault of the team, and it didn’t help me make progress.

“We decided to try and set a fast time in the second race to try and get pole for the last race.

“It worked and it feels great to be on the top of the podium. I have my eyes on winning the championship this season, and by winning one race this weekend at Oulton has certainly done me no harm.”

Albert is placed eighth in the championship table after three races with 43 points. Will Palmer leads the title race with 74, from Chris Mealin, the winner of race two, on 69.

Towcester’s Michael O’Brien has graduated to BRDC F4 for the 2015 season from Formula Ford, and recorded a best result of 11th in his second race.

Driving for the MGR team, O’Brien was 13th in race one and 14th in race three to lie 14th in the overall standings.

The BRDC F4 season continues at Rockingham at the beginning of next month, when the series again joins the British GT Championship programme.
