Towcester ladies 1st XI were beaten by a late goal after coming back from 2-0 down against North Notts in Midlands Region Division One.

A nervy start from the home side cost them dear as Notts slotted away an opening goal before a bullet shot across the D doubled the lead.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, Tows re-grouped and fought back with Jo Hudson’s goal from Ella Bevan’s pass halving the deficit before Laura Whittle brought Tows level.

However, Notts regained the lead with a third and although Tows dominated the final 10 minutes, it was enough to give the visitors victory. Charlotte Hurst was named Player of the Match.

Tows IIs, meanwhile, thrashed Rothwell and Desborough 7-0. Leanne Hirst opened the scoring from a penalty corner before Lisa Groves netted twice and Laura Abbott once for a rampant Tows.

Harriett Shepherd then belted the ball in off a Rothwell player to get a fifth, followed by a brace for Nicola Pannell. Tows IIs face top of the table Daventry tomorrow, Saturday, at 9am.
