Bicester 1st XV suffered a 22-14 defeat to a clinical Phoenix side in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier.
Buckingham Swans continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 21-0 victory away at Olney Ladies.
Swirling wind and heavy rain made for a scrappy encounter, but Buckingham made a strong start and dominated the early stages without troubling the scorers.
The Swans were unable to power their way through a strong Olney pack, but the breakthrough finally came on 30 minutes when Ester Barnes evaded several tackles to crash over. Katie Clark added the conversion.
Olney showed some attacking ambition in the remainder of the half and enjoyed a brief spell in the Buckingham half – but the visitors held out before extending their lead courtesy of two quick tries from Hailey Mitchell, who finished off some slick moves that saw tidy offloads and great handling across the pitch. Clark and Bec Bray added the extras for a 21-0 lead, which is how it stayed until full time.
The Swans are next in action tomorrow, Sunday, when they are at home to Moseley.
