Thornborough ski racer picked for England

Thornborough Ski Racer Richard Goldsworthy has been picked for the England Alpine Ski team.

Richard, as well as his brother, Michael, began racing when they moved to Canada for three years before moving back to Thornborough in 2007.

The 18-year-old has tasted success with several top 10 finishes in British races, culminating in winning the British Schoolboy Championships in both slalom and giant slalom in 2011.

Richard has spent time training in the Alps and has made good progress in his second season to gain selection for England. He had already met the skiing standard and his selection was confirmed when he passed the mandatory fitness tests.

He now hopes to progress to the British Europa Cup squad in the next two years.
