Following the success of the first and second teams, Buckingham Ladies IIIs were this week crowned champions of TrySports Division Four with one match still to go.
Having only been formed last season when they won Division Five, the IIIs are composed mainly of youngsters who have progressed from the junior section of the club and are enjoying their first experience of playing Senior hockey.
The squad travelled to Sonning on Saturday needing a win to secure the league title.
From the start Buckingham pressurised the home side and were rewarded with an early goal from Amelia Hollingworth before player of the match, Chelsea Hegarty-Swain, added a second.
Hollingworth then set up Lucia Festa to score Buckingham’s third before Helen Holme made it 4-0 at half-time.
The second half started at the same tempo as Emily Protheroe netted twice and Hegarty-Swain scored her second to seal Buckingham’s 21st victory in 23 matches this season. The IIIs have now scored 118 goals in their 2013/14 campaign with only 16 conceded.
Buckingham host the University of Reading IVs tomorrow (Saturday) in their final match of the season.
