Bicester L1s suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Phoenix & Ranelagh at the weekend.

The hosts struggled to settle into the game in the first half and as a result found themselves 1-0 down at half time, which was how it remained until the final whistle despite an improved second half performance. Jo Wells was voted Player of the Game.

The Bicester L2s, meanwhile, defeated Oxford L5s 3-1 to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Kelly Holt opened the scoring for the visitors and though Oxford levelled through a fortunate own goal, Bicester took a lead into half time thanks to Charlotte Cochrane’s goal after good work from Fiona Boyer, Amy Olah and Emily Hill.

A brilliant defensive display then saw Bicester to victory with Hill securing the win with a third goal late on.

Bicester M3s also notched a victory as they beat Banbury Piranhas 4-0. Nick Styles gave Bicester the lead after Chris Birch’s lay-off before Jason Crook doubled the lead after half time and Pete English and Steve Birtles both scored in the second period to wrap up all three points.

Finally, the M1s enjoyed an even bigger win at the weekend, beating Ashford M2s 5-0 to stay fourth in Division One.

After a steady start from both teams, Bicester upped their play and began to create chances before taking the lead through a goal on the counter-attack that was finished off by Jonny Reid after Dave Stucliffe’s perfect through ball.

The Greens made it two before half time as another counter-attack was this time swept home by Leo Graves.

Bicester continued to pressurise Ashford after the break and they raced away with victory thanks to a brace from Sutcliffe before Luke Smith rounded off the scoring with a fifth following smart work from Jon Roger.
