Usher raring to go

FIT-AGAIN Daza Usher wants the toughest opponent possible when he returns to the ring this month having won his first three fights.

Niggling injuries have kept the Bicester welterweight out of action since June when he beat journeyman Billy Smith in Gloucester.

But with those knocks now behind him, the 29-year-old is looking for a dangerous opponent in his next fight at Gloucester’s GL1 Leisure Centre on November 23.

Usher said: “I’ve had a few knocks but I’m back at full fitness now and 100 per cent ready to go.

“I had trouble with my leg and hand which meant I couldn’t run, do any sparring or bag work.

“Those problems are over now and I’ve been training well for a good few weeks now.

“I’ve got to sit down with my manager and sort out an opponent but I want a step up now.”

Usher has won all three of his fights so far after beating Sid Razak last year and Jason Nesbitt in February while also recording a win over Smith in June.

He added: “I’ve had fights against so-called journeymen so far and now I want an opponent who comes here to fight me and win.”

Usher, who runs his own gym in Little Chesterton, is well aware that he can’t look past his next fight but he admitted he has his eyes on winning titles further down the line.

“I’m in this game to win some titles but for now I just have to keep winning,” he added.

“I keep improving with each fight but I know I can’t run before I can walk.

“I’m learning new things all the time and my last fight was the toughest.

“Billy Smith knew all the tricks and I picked up on that and put in to practice what I’d learnt.

“I can’t wait to get back in action because I’ve been out for a while.”

Tickets cost £35 for unreserved seating and £60 for VIP ringside.
