Whittlebury Park’s Club Championships was held amid scorching weather over two days of low-scoring golf, with Sam Henfrey and Christina Hancock triumphant.
Hancock led by one shot after the first day and she held onto her lead on day two thanks to a superb round of 76 to claim the title for the fifth successive year.
Henfrey also took a lead into day two and back-to-back 73s saw him record 146 strokes in total, which was enough for victory over Paul Booth.
In the ladies nett competitions, Carole Kane dominated the field, taking the Samuels Trophy, while the Captain’s Cup was claimed by Tina Murdock, who carded a gross 109 over 27 holes, three clear of Juliette Parish. For the men, David Sloanes took the Forrest Putter and the Wainwright Cup went to Peter Patten.
Lady captain Tracy Heavey said: “It’s been another fantastic club championship, as always very well supported by the membership and the green staff who made sure the course was in top condition.”
