Towcester’s Michael Moyers stormed to his third victory of the 2016 season at Castle Combe last Saturday, to move himself into second position in the Castle Combe Racing Club Championship, writes James Beckett.

Driving a Spectrum for the Kevin Mills Racing team, Moyers clocked the fastest time in qualifying on a damp track, but by the time the cars were lining-up to race, the weather had improved somewhat.

Moyers became involved in a frantic battle for victory with his Kevin Mills team-mate, Roger Orgee, the reigning Castle Combe champion, Nathan Ward and Ben Norton.

The race was halted briefly to allow marshals to remove the stricken Swift of Jack Clayton from the track, and at the restart racing was of a similar high-quality.

At the fall of the flag, Moyers was leading from Orgee by the narrow margin of just 0.0139secs., with Ben Norton claiming third.

Afterwards, Moyers said: “This was a great race to win and I now have my title challenge firmly back on-track. The season continues on August Bank Holiday Monday, and I am really looking forward to that race.”
