A GROUP of investors from North America are currently attempting to secure the former HRT team a starting position on the F1 grid for the 2013 season it has emerged this week.
The group are believed to have undertaken initial discussions with F1 supremo, Bernie Ecclestone, regarding the possibility of entering the FIA F1 World Championship this season with the equipment used last year by the Spanish HRT squad.
If successful in their quest, it is understood that the team, to be called Scorpion Racing, will be based in units near the Silverstone track.
Despite the advanced stage of negotiations, insiders in the category believe that a 2014 entry is more likely for the new team as the official FIA entry list for 2013 closed and was confirmed prior to Christmas.
