Town fielded three new signings in a bid to bolster their league form but a late goal by Chenecks player manager Graham Cottle undid their hard work.

Buckingham saw Ashley Farmer carried off shortly after half time with torn ankle ligaments and is likely to be sidelinedfor the rest of the season. Making their debuts for Town were midfielders Chris Wilson and Calvin Owusu, both ex-Northampton Spencer, and striker Dan Renshaw.

The Robins were first on the scoresheet through Ben Shepherd’s well-struck shot from a tight angle after 32 minutes but five minutes later Chenecks levelled through Ed Stewart’s far post tap-in.

Scott Barczewski put the home side in front after 55 minutes, beating keeper Paul Warnecki at his near post, but the Robins pulled a goal back through Jared Cunniff 12 minutes later.

Town made a couple of substitutions looking for the winner and came close with several efforts but Cottle netted an 89th minute clincher from close range to take the three points. Town, still anchored at the foot of the UCL Division One,host Rushden & Higham this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
