Red Bull have Ferrari in their crosshairs at the Hungaroring

Red Bull Racing could leave Hungary this weekend as F1's second team as they continue their hunt to overhaul Ferrari.

The team from Tilbrook appear to have found their feet since Max Verstappen joined Daniel Ricciardo and the team back in May, and his arrival has helped Red Bull close the gap dramatically to the Italian giants in the constructor’s championship.

With back-to-back podium finishes for Verstappen in Austria and Silverstone, the gap to Ferrari is now just six points.

Up next is the Hungarian Grand Prix - a high downforce circuit expected to play into Red Bull’s hands.

Ferrari have suffered several reliability problems recently too which Red Bull have been able to capitalise on, while their own issues have seemingly been overcome.

“We have a very strong car, strong drivers, the engine is improving,” said team boss Christian Horner.

“I don’t think there is anything really to fear.

“We outscored Ferrari at Silverstone and we outscored them by 13 points in Austria.

“We have some of the more powerful circuits out of the way like Montreal, Baku and Austria and the circuits coming up hopefully play to some of our strengths.

“It’s going to be a tight battle with them for the rest of the year.”
