FOOTBALL: Brackley Sports kept up their bid to retain their Premier Division crown with a 4-1 home win over basement side Buckingham Town Reserves in the North Bucks League.

But Buckingham made it hard for Sports and led 1-0 before Andy Prescott levelled it. Brackley however stepped up a gear after the break and added further goals through substitute Mark Mounsdon(2) and Felix Lowe.

Sixth-placed Brackley are ten points’ adrift of leaders Thornborough Athletic with three games in hand.

MK Wanderers enhanced their title claims with a comfortable 3-1 win at leaders Thornborough Athletic. Wanderers, third in the table, led 2-0 at half time with Athletic grabbing a goal back through Kelsaw after the break but they could not break the visitors’ dominance.

Second-placed Southcott Village RA had to settle for a 3-3 home draw with Yardley Gobion. Silverstone went down 3-1 at home to Wolverton Town, while Stewkley were edged out 3-2 at Great Linford.

Brackley Sports Reserves continued their fine run to top the Intermediate Division with a battling 4-2 home win over Syresham, overturning a 2-0 first half deficit to fire home four goals after the break. Mowatt, Dawson, Delvalle, and Atkins were their scorers.

Great Horwood, four points adrift of Sports with six games in hand, saw off fourth-placed Bow Brickhill 2-0, Brunning and Cronin their hitmen.

In Division One, leaders Grendon Rangers Reserves were in Marsworth Reserve Cup action at St Johns, winning 1-0 through Chaudrey’s strike.

Potterspury Reserves hammered Charlton and District 9-2, R. Ferguson grabbing a hat-trick with Chilvers (2), D.Ferguson, Foreman and Lamb also on target.Basement side Westbury enjoyed a 1-0 win at Stewkley Resrves, Somerton the scorer.

The team one place above them, Twyford United, were 2-0 winners at Deanshanger Athletic Reserves.

Grendon Rangers ran out 2-0 winners against Steeple Claydon in the Interdivisional Trophy quarter final, A.Perna grabbing both goals. Potterspury are through to the Premier Division Trophy final after a thrilling 4-3 success at Loughton Manor.

In Division Two, fifth-placed Real Padbury drew 1-1 at MK Wanderers A, while fourth-placed University of Buckingham were 4-1 winners at Wing Village.

Basement side Marsh Gibbon Reserves edged Steeple Claydon Reserves 3-2, Smith grabbing a brace for Marsh.
