Defending champions Byfield are co-leaders after two matches of the 2014 South Northants Cricket League Premier Division season.

A 10-wicket rout of Charlton confirmed Byfield’s position at the top of the table after the hosts capitulated to 27 all out. Rob Oliver (4-4) and Alistair Dennison (4-11) were the pick of the Byfield bowlers.

Middleton Cheney and Syresham share top spot having also won their first two games.

Syresham were six-wicket winners over Wroxton. Nic Parry (4-25) and Nathan Archer (3-16) skittled the visitors out for 72 before Dave Miston’s unbeaten 32 guided Syresham to victory.

Elsewhere, Evenley thrashed Castlethorpe by eight wickets thanks to Michael Peyton-Bruhl (3-9), Ben Patterson (3-24) and Alex Romaine (21no).

In Division One, six teams sit level on points at the top as poor weather over the weekend saw only two matches take place.

Matt Miller (81) helped Bodicote post 236-6 at home to Evenley A, before the visitors crashed to 114 all out, while Willoughby (93-6) edged to a low-scoring win over Woodford Halse (92 all out).

In Division Two, Hinton-in-the-Hedges (63-4) beat Gayton (58) to go top, level on points with Grange Park (106-7), who defeated Hanslope (85).

Division Three leaders Gawcott & Hillesden maintained their position at the top with a 54-run victory over Bodicote A, and they are joined by Middleton Cheney A who defeated Silverstone, while Syresham A (158-8) beat Helmdon (117-8).
